How do you lock the keypad on the BLACKJACK 2 while talking?

The directions tell me to hold the End Call on for 2 seconds to lock the keypad. This works, but it hangs up on the person I am talking to. How can I lock the keypad while I am talking to someone without ending the call and hanging up on them? please help me.
