Chill dog breeds? Please read descrition..?

Hello there. Thanks for clicking on this question. So, my name says "Dennis Dijorno", but that's not really my name.. I'm a 10-15 year old girl... you don't need to know my exact age (; Anyways, I was wondering if you knew any chill dog breeds? Chill as in calm, you know? Like, my parents don't really want a dog cause they think it'll scratch furniture or mess up the house. And if my mom were to accept a dog at all, it'd have to be small. So please help me find a chill, small dog breed. We went to our family friend's house, and they have this dog who's so chill. Like he just sits on my dad's lap or his owners and doesn't bark or scratch. The dog's so calm. My dad liked this dog, probs cause it was so nice and friendly and didn't even bark. Now I'm not saying the breed can't bark, I'm just looking for a calm, small dog. I'm not so picky, but my parents are like 10/100 on board with getting a dog. So it'll have to be a chill breed.
