Does he like me or not?

I have guy friend with whom I have become close from past couple of months. Though we knew each other earlier, but never had chance to talk properly until he went to other town for his work. We tried to remain in touch through emails and IMs. But I have started to like him, the only problem is I don't know how he feels for me. I know we both like each other as frds but I m not sure how to figure out whether he would like to take our frdship to next level. Actually he has invited me to go for lunch with him, but due to family problems he won't be able to come on desired day. So he told me about how he feels for changing plans at the last moment. Also he told me that before he goes on his trip, he would like to make trip to my place to see me once. I don't know what does it mean. Any ideas pls
