not only oil and gas in the north sea, we have tourism and whiskey along with engineering and break through in science. I'm Scottish and i think because a lot of Scots wanted to be part of Great Britain, its not about money. Personally ive had a rough time with the English recently, i was for Britain but my views have changed. I'm more Scottish now, i believe in SNP. I understand that some English are nice but most are racist in my option. The only country in the world were Scottish aren't welcome-England. Flower of Scotland says it all.
